Religious matters play a big role in the old Greenland story.  It is a periode of transition from heaten traditions over to Christian traditions in the ordinary way of living and daying.   Christianity was leagalizde in Iceland in the year 1000 but the Heathen religion was not banned so the two sects of religion moved on over the nexed 250 years.  Women where more often Christian than men and almost all the poor people or servants.  The world of the Heathen was a very different one from the world of the Christians as presented by the Catholic church and the methods of cleaning the heathens of bad habits was often a very dubious one.  The fight for living continued for the two sects and some of this we see in the many stories from the old Greenland manuscripts.
